All-day Programs

Luxembourg - Echternach

The coach tour leads along the Luxembourg Upper Moselle to Remich and from there on to the capital city of Luxembourg. The coach tour through the bank district and past the institutions of the European Union will reveal the international significance of our small neighboring country. Sightseeing in the Old City and the Cathedral will demonstrate the capital city’s flair. You can spend the lunch break in a cozy restaurant or go shopping. The tour then continues into Luxembourg’s so-called Little Switzerland with the romantic Muller Valley and on to the abbey town of Echternach. As the oldest town in Luxembourg, it grew up around the famous Benedictine Abbey in Echternach, founded in 698 by Willibrord. The journey brings you back to Trier through the lovely Sûre Valley and the village of Igel (Igel Column - UNESCO World Heritage Site). (Duration: about 8 hours)

Upper Moselle - Saar:

The tour leads along the picturesque Moselle to Remich via the village of Igel (Igel Column – UNESCO World Cultural Heritage) and the Luxembourg town of Grevenmacher. Here you cross the border again. After a few miles/kilometers, you reach Nennig, known for its grand gladiator mosaic. After a visit to view the mosaic floor, the tour continues through the Saar District (with a panoramic view of the Saar Bend) to Mettlach to tour the Keravision show at the porcelain manufacturer Villeroy & Boch. After the midday break, there’s shopping in the factory outlet or lunch, then along the romantic Saar River to Saarburg. A stroll through the Old Town awaits you, a climb to the Saarburg Castle, and, if you wish, a coffee break. The journey continues to the Roman temple district in Tawern and back to Trier. (Duration: about 8 hours)

Volcanic Eifel Mountains:

The Daun maars are unique in Europe - volcanic lakes created a few thousand years ago. After a visit to the Cistercian monastery Himmerod, founded in the spring of 1134 under the leadership of Abbot Randulf, and the spa town of Manderscheid, the trip leads into the center of the Volcanic Eifel, to the maars. After a lunch break in a lovely restaurant and a brief walk along the maar, the tour continues to Bad Bertrich, Germany’s only spa with a Glauber’s salt spring. The journey leads via Wittlich back to Trier on the autobahn. (Duration: about 8 hours)

Erbeskopf Mountain - Idar-Oberstein and Nahe Valley

From Trier via Thalfang, the drive leads to the highest mountain in Rhineland-Palatinate, the Erbeskopf (2693 ft/816 m), and on to Idar-Oberstein, the center of the German gemstone industry (tour through a gemstone cutter’s shop, the gemstone museum, and the Church in the Rock). After the midday break, the journey continues to Fishbach (show mine, copper mining) and back to Trier. (Duration: about 8 hours)

The Romantic Central Moselle:

After a tour of Bernkastel-Kues (Old Town, Wine Museum, Cusanus House), the way leads to Traben-Trabach, the town of art nouveau. Following the lunch break, the tour continues via Zell and Beilstein to Cochem. The Imperial Castle (Reichsburg) is the highlight of Cochem, but a stay in the Old Town is worth the walk as well. The return to Trier goes on the Eifel autobahn. (Duration: about 8 hours)
